Positive Thoughts vs Negative Thoughts

The way we use words has a huge impact on our lives. Certain words are destructive; others are empowering.

The words “I can’t” implies you have no control over your life, whereas “I won’t” implies you have a choice. I challenge you, from this moment forward, strike “I can’t” from your vocabulary. When you give your subconscious the message “I can’t”, your subconscious really believes you. Your subconscious believes only what it hears, not what is true.

“I should” is another loser. It, too, implies that you have no choices. “I could” is more powerful….such as, I could visit my grandmother today, but I am choosing to go to the movies.” This implies that you have a choice rather than an obligation. Shoulds bring on guilt, totally draining your emotions. Your power is taken away every time you say the words “I should.”

“It’s not my fault” is another beauty. This makes you look helpless. It’s better to take responsibility for whatever happens to you in life than to be the victim. If you are willing to take responsibility, then you might see what you can change in the future. You are in control. Each time you find yourself in better control of your life you are moving to a position of power, which is the ultimate goal.

“It’s a problem” is another bad one. It’s heavy and negative. Whereas if you were to say “It’s an opportunity” this can open many doors. Each time you see the gift in life’s obstacles, you can handle different situations in very rewarding ways.

“I hope” is another victim’s phrase. “I know’ has far more power. What a difference between these two phrases! One sets you up for worry and the other has peace and calm about it.

“If only” now this is boring, you can hear the whine behind it. Whereas “next time” implies that you have learned from the situation and will put what you have learned to use.

“What will I do?” This phrase has a lot of fear in it. We all have incredible sources of power within us that we haven’t used before. It would you serve you much better to say “I know I’ll handle it, I have nothing to worry about.”

As simple as this may seem, I promise you, it is very powerful. When you begin to erase the cants, shoulds, terribles, problems and struggles from your vocabulary, not only do you feel differently, but you will be seen by others in a very different way. People who display inner strength are treated differently from those who don’t. The more powerfully you speak, the more you will be seen as a force in the world around you.

You may not have heard of intermittent fasting, and so you may not know why it can and should be a part of your workout and fat loss plan. This combined with your workout can and does have a dramatic effect on the pace at which you lose excess fat. By working out while doing these fasts, you are attacking your goals with a two-edged sword, slashing it from both ends of the spectrum.

The second reason would be that this type of fasting allows you to maintain a moderate to intense workout load while still maintaining your energy and metabolism. Many people think that fasting drains both of these aspects, and while that is true for other, particularly longer fasts, for intermittent fasting the opposite has proven to be the case. You often have more energy and a higher metabolism while engaged in this type of fasting, making it the best of both worlds. Many other fasts are so debilitating that you are left at the end of the day so drained you are unable to do anything. Intermittent fasting is not like that at all.

The third reason why I believe intermittent fasting is a good practice to include in your workout plan is that it has beneficial aspects to it that are a little less easy to see, but of great benefit all the same. There is a cleansing of your system that takes place with any fast, as your body adjusts to less content being put into it. There are also undeniable psychological benefits, such as a very affirming sense of accomplishment that can help you in many areas of your life. Knowing that you are not a slave to food is a major part of that.

I’m a firm advocate of intermittent fasting as a way of enhancing your fat loss and workout routines. There is in my mind no faster way of getting maximum fat loss while still being able to handle a full workout load. Investigate it today. I think you might be surprised at the results you’ll come up with!
