Told You So

Just wanted to post a short video of Dana and I getting our BMW “Told You So” license plate at the ViSalus National Training last year. I should get around to editing video a little more often!  It you’d like to drive your own BMW and not have to worry about where the payment is coming from or get national recognition for your accomplishments, give us a shout! Setting Goals

by Michael Lindsay

Setting Goals

During this time of year, most of us are trying to set new goals and/or set a New Year Resolution. Jim Rohn has been a favorite of mine for sometime and I received this today in my email so I wanted to share. Hope you enjoy!

Goals/Goal-Setting

The major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of you to accomplish it. What it makes of you will always be the far greater value than what you get.

Some people are disturbed by those tough days because all they have is the days. They haven’t designed or described or defined the future.

Goals. There’s no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There’s no telling what you can do when you believe in them. And there’s no telling what will happen when you act upon them.

We all need lots of powerful long-range goals to help us past the short-term obstacles.

The ultimate reason for setting goals is to entice you to become the person it takes to achieve them.

Don’t set your goals too low. If you don’t need much, you won’t become much.

If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build, end up building us.

We all have two choices: We can make a living or we can design a life.

New Year Resolutions and the Law of Diminishing Intent

Ever wonder why we start the new year off with all these great ideas of how we are going to change “this” year. Then, one, two, three months later, we are not doing any of those things? It probably has a lot to do with the Law of Diminishing Intent. Simply stated, the further away from the moment of inspiration, our intent tends to diminish. Over time, it returns to the moment before the inspiration occured. How can we overcome this?

One way is to reestablish our goals, resolutions, or whatever you want to call them on a daily or at least a weekly basis. It really helps a lot if you have a written list. When was the last time you actually wrote your New Year Resolutions down? Put the written list in a place where you will review it regularly. (preferably daily) Then take some kind of action on them on a daily basis. This will renew your original “intent” often, not giviving the law of Diminishing intent a chance to work.

If you have a goal or New Year Resolution of improving your health, losing weight, getting more fit, or in my case, uncovering those abs of yours, take a few minutes and write down your exact goals. Mine is to lose 3% body fat while gaining muscle mass. Getting an accountability partner will greatly increase your odds of keeping your intent. Find a program that you can follow and do it everyday! I use the Body By Vi 90 day Challenge and their online system called Vi-Net to help keep me motivated. Hopefully, you will find something that will work for you and keep you motivated while we keep the law of diminishing intent at bay.

Post your new resolutions or goals here and I’ll try and help you stay accountable!

Happy New Year!

ViSalus Bimmer Club

I’ll be the first to tell you that I did not get involved in the ViSalus Body By Vi 90 Day challenge for the extra income. For me it was to try the products and see how it worked. I knew there was a viable business here but really just wanted to see my abs! (At 50 years old that becomes increasingly more difficult!) Anyway, while on my first challenge we did promote and it was easy because people kept asking me what I was doing to lose so much weight. I hadn’t really lost much weight but I did end up losing 2% body fat and a total of 10 inches so it was quite noticeable.

Fast forward 5 months and we are Regional Directors and our BMW Car payment is no longer a major expense. In fact, I just have to tell you that when you go to make a car payment and all you have to do is transfer money from your ViSalus pre-paid MasterCard Debit account to your checking account, if REALLY feels like you don’t have a payment at all! My goal now is to help as many people as I can to know how good it feels! If you want to get healthier, join us on the Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge and see how easy it is. The shake mix that tastes like cake mix! Lose weight, gain muscle, whatever your goals are these products support it. While you are at it, why not build yourself a team and drive your own BMW. Give more than you receive

Give More Than You Receive

If you have read many of my posts, you will know that I am a huge fan of Jim Rohn’s work. He is known as America’s foremost business philosopher. I never get tired of hearing him speak. Thankfully there is a huge amount of his work available even though he passed away last year. I still subscribe to his Newsletter and the following “Vitamins for the Mind” post arrived today. I want to share Jim’s work for others to see, as I think this post was meant for me this morning. Hopefully, you will get something out of it as well.

Career/Marketplace
My father taught me to always do more than you get paid for as an investment in your future.
Whether you stay six weeks, six months or six years, always leave it better than you found it.
Don’t bring your need to the marketplace, bring your skill. If you don’t feel well, tell your doctor, but not the marketplace. If you need money, go to the bank, but not the marketplace.
If you make a sale, you can make a living. If you make an investment of time and good service in a customer, you can make a fortune.
Don’t just let your business or your job make something for you; let it make something of you.
Lack of homework shows up in the marketplace as well as in the classroom.
Where you start in the marketplace is not where you have to stay.
The worst days of those who enjoy what they do are better than the best days of those who don’t.
We get paid for bringing value to the marketplace. It takes time to bring value to the marketplace, but we get paid for the value, not the time.
Here’s the major problem with going on strike for more money: You cannot get rich by demand.

I’m trying to write something that can be of value related to this post, but Jim pretty much says it all. I hope you enjoyed this post.

Body By Vi BMW Goal Setting

Dana and I at Vitality. We began our Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge at the beginning of May, 2011. During the following 5 months, we have learned a lot about promoting the challenge as well as learning about ourselves. We we set a goal to achieve the Rising Star director level in our first thirty days. We were starting to get a little momentum going into June and our volume approximately doubled. In July, it went up another 30%.

In July, Dana and had a friend take the picture here in front of a shiny new Black BMW when we attended our first major ViSalus event, Vitality, in Orlando, FL. And what an event it was. We then set our goal to become Regional Directors by the next National Training event which is in Atlanta, GA in October. Then August “happened”.

Although our volume still went up, we had been unable to schedule hardly anything because my daughter was expecting our first granddaughter. Didn’t want to have a party scheduled and not be able to make it. We were also right in the middle of moving to a new office in one of our Piggly Wiggly stores that we are remodeling. I do nearly all the computer/technology stuff in our stores so I was having multiple 18 hour days trying to keep everything working while we we in the process of moving to a new office location. 3 or 4 birthday parties, One of which was another daughters 16th, which of course required a LOT of planning. Finishing up audits of our 401(k) plan, and renewing our check cashing licence with the NC Banking commission. Are you starting to get the idea? All kinds of “stuff” was just happening. Oh yeah, most important one was my granddaughter “Rylee Elaine Hunt” was born. Don’t get me wrong, all these things are just normal everyday life that sometimes just overwhelms you in the midst of it all.

We had scheduled a party for September 1st and on that same evening one of our support team from Chigago was having a call on getting it done in September. We were on board. Dana and I talked on the drive home from that party and made the decision that September was the month we were going to qualify for Regional Director. Well, even in the midst of August not being a banner month, we had planted a lot of seeds. They started germinating early in September and just kept on sprouting and growing and growing. Sometimes they just popped up out of nowhere! All of a sudden, we were halfway to regional! Then came the last two weeks of the month and we knew we would make it but had a tremendous desire to help the members of our team to make their own goals. We scheduled 5 parties for the last week in the month. Turns out we didn’t need all of them to get our goals, but our team needed them to get theirs. It was a tremendously successful month for us as well as our team. Inactive promoters “woke up” to find huge amounts of volume in their groups and got re energized. Lots of amazing stuff happened.

Set your goals, and work at them. Understand that life will sometimes get in your way. That’s ok, we all have lives outside of ViSalus. Make time for your family and friends, but don’t put your business completely to the side during those times. Keep planting those seeds! They will germinate. The marketing funnel that ViSalus has created for us with the Getting Started Training is the most beautiful in the world. Stick to it. Do NOT try to reinvent the wheel. If you run enough people through the funnel, you will absolutely be successful in this business. Remember we are promoting a Challenge and sorting people. That’s it. Make shakes, press play on a dvd player, determine 1’s, 2’s, and 3’s and work with them appropriately.

We love getting paid to party. How about you! Join us if you like, we are having a blast!

Just recently I received a call from an old friend who asked me to attend a Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge Party. Unfortunately, I could not attend. That cost me nearly 2 weeks! Fortunately, he was a good business person and followed up. We met at my office a couple of weeks later and he walked me through the ViSalus marketing plan. But even more importantly, he made me a couple of the Body By Vi shakes. WOW! I was hooked. Not only was there a huge market for the product and and excellent compensation plan but this stuff tasted GREAT!

Not being one to make rash decisions, I did my due diligence as well as I could in less than 24 hours, but after seeing what kind of growth ViSalus was having after creating the Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge marketing concept and investigating their back office options, I jumped in with both feet. We made Director in 24 or 25 days. That made me a “Rising Star” and qualified me for an extra bonus check! Ok, I could have probably done it faster, but being conservative like I am, I didn’t really share the opportunity with anyone until after I received my product, then waited 4 days until a Monday to start on the Challenge. Another mistake for me. Oh well, I got better!

You have to understand, I have been involved in several Network Marketing companies over the last 20 years and it usually took me months to generate a check at all (if at all), much less to actually get a check along with a BONUS within my first 30 days! Here is a short little video that I did a couple of days after qualifying for “Rising Star”

Positive Thoughts vs Negative Thoughts

I received this in my Facebook inbox today and liked it so much I asked permission from Donna to post here on my blog as well. Thanks Donna for letting me share this! Be sure and check out other great material at her website

The way we use words has a huge impact on our lives. Certain words are destructive; others are empowering.

The words “I can’t” implies you have no control over your life, whereas “I won’t” implies you have a choice. I challenge you, from this moment forward, strike “I can’t” from your vocabulary. When you give your subconscious the message “I can’t”, your subconscious really believes you. Your subconscious believes only what it hears, not what is true.

“I should” is another loser. It, too, implies that you have no choices. “I could” is more powerful….such as, I could visit my grandmother today, but I am choosing to go to the movies.” This implies that you have a choice rather than an obligation. Shoulds bring on guilt, totally draining your emotions. Your power is taken away every time you say the words “I should.”

“It’s not my fault” is another beauty. This makes you look helpless. It’s better to take responsibility for whatever happens to you in life than to be the victim. If you are willing to take responsibility, then you might see what you can change in the future. You are in control. Each time you find yourself in better control of your life you are moving to a position of power, which is the ultimate goal.

“It’s a problem” is another bad one. It’s heavy and negative. Whereas if you were to say “It’s an opportunity” this can open many doors. Each time you see the gift in life’s obstacles, you can handle different situations in very rewarding ways.

“I hope” is another victim’s phrase. “I know’ has far more power. What a difference between these two phrases! One sets you up for worry and the other has peace and calm about it.

“If only” now this is boring, you can hear the whine behind it. Whereas “next time” implies that you have learned from the situation and will put what you have learned to use.

“What will I do?” This phrase has a lot of fear in it. We all have incredible sources of power within us that we haven’t used before. It would you serve you much better to say “I know I’ll handle it, I have nothing to worry about.”

As simple as this may seem, I promise you, it is very powerful. When you begin to erase the cants, shoulds, terribles, problems and struggles from your vocabulary, not only do you feel differently, but you will be seen by others in a very different way. People who display inner strength are treated differently from those who don’t. The more powerfully you speak, the more you will be seen as a force in the world around you.

Top 5 Weight loss Strategies

Losing weight sounds simple but it can get confusing if you don’t know where to start. This is the top 5 most important things you can do to lose weight and keep it off.

  1. Eat Less – This one sounds obvious but it can’t be stressed enough. The only way to lose weight is burn more calories than you consume. One easy way of doing this is eating less. As a matter of fact the only way any of the popular diets cause weight loss is because you end up eating less while you follow them. It doesn’t matter if the diet is low carb, high protein or low fat. As long as you are eating less calories than your basal requirement you will lose weight. The easiest and most effective calorie reducing system I have come across is Eat Stop Eat by Brad Pilon.
  2. Do High Intensity Exercise – High intensity whole body circuit training will ensure that you are burning lots of calories and working all the muscles in your body. This works better than traditional ‘cardio’ workouts for 2 reasons. First high intensity circuits burn more calories than ‘cardio’ can. Two, they build and tone muscle which keeps your metabolism up.
  3. Get A Weight Loss Team – Social Support is the most important factor to realizing your weight loss goals. Get as many of your close friends and family on your side as possible. The more people that are pulling for your success the better. Make sure you always have at least two or three people to call that will help keep you on track when you feel like skipping a workout or cheating on your nutrition plan.
  4. Eat more Fruits And Vegetables – This seems a bit simple but its one of the most effective things you can do to lose weight. Fruits and veggies take up lots of space in your stomach and fill you up without adding too many calories. They will also take the place of some high sugar and high fat foods you may have eaten instead.
  5. Set Short Term Goals – Short term goal setting is often overlooked and is a powerful tool to realizing your eventual long term weight loss goal. Set multiple and attainable short term goals, and the shorter the better. At the start set goals for each day, morning evening and night. Set short term goals for finishing each one of your workouts, as well as for eating your fruits and vegetables. Set them each day, and mark it down each time you achieve one. As you build up your list of goals you have accomplished you will build up confidence and momentum towards your overall long term weight loss goal. Keep the list somewhere safe and keep marking down each goal as you achieve it. After a few weeks you should have a nice looking list of accomplishments to be proud of. Remember, every little bit counts.

Put these 5 strategies into effect and you will be well on your way to achieving your weight loss goals in record time.

Mental Notes

by Michael Lindsay

I don’t really have a clue where this list actually originated but it is attributed to the Anthony Robbins Organization. Regardless, here are 20 little notes that make a LOT of sense to me. Each one of these should probably be a separate blog post. (think I’ll start on that) Hope you enjoy.

ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other..

THREE.
Don’t believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

FOUR. When you say, ‘I love you,’ mean it.

FIVE. When you say, ‘I’m sorry,’ look the person in the eye.

SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.

EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone’s dreams. People who don’t have dreams don’t have much.

NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it’s the only way to live life completely.

TEN.. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.

ELEVEN. Don’t judge people by their relatives.

TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.

THIRTEEN. …. When someone asks you a question you don’t want to answer, smile and ask, ‘Why do you want to know?’

FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

FIFTEEN. Say ‘bless you’ when you hear someone sneeze.

SIXTEEN. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.

SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R’s: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.

EIGHTEEN. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

NINETEEN. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

TWENTY.Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

Until next time,

Michael
